ThreeSix is a response to the call for more compact living. Instead of taking the usual approach of the tiny house, this building aims to keep the space so many have grown accustomed. It is made of three volumes and houses up to 16 people (two sets of two parents, two kids, and four grandparents). The middle volume is built with large walls of windows and houses most of the shared space. The shared space features an open floorplan layout divided throughout four levels to strengthen the sense of community while reducing noise to create more secluded lounging areas. Separated by thick concrete walls and long hallways are the bedrooms, housed in two identical volumes. By using these separating features, the bedrooms are able to feel secluded, allowing one to find privacy. The grandparents’ rooms are found on the main floor to accommodate for reduced mobility while the parents and kids’ rooms are found on the second floor furthering the division to create even more privacy.
