Five hours north-west of Vancouver on a remote peninsula, the rest-stop services kayakers and hikers travelling through the area. With this structure, local materials and skilled trades are used to construct a welcomed relief from the elements for people and as a necessary measure to keep the surrounding nature clean from heavy human traffic. Fabric tied to an interlocking wood substructure creates a generous roof highlighting the filtered forest light while also collecting rainwater for the shower and sink located below along with a composting toilet. The wall structure made of locally collected stones encloses the toilet and sink but is left open to encourage natural ventilation - something only possible due to its remoteness.
